Police say a fatal car crash in Candia, New Hampshire earlier today was followed by a brief police chase.

State Police say a Candia officer had attempted to stop the driver for erratic driving just minutes before the car sped off Rout 43 on a curve, crashing into a tree.

Police say the officer had just broken off the chase right before the crash due to the roads being slippery with ice.

The driver was alone in the car and he was identified as a 24-year-old man of Raymond. His name was not yet released so that the family may first be notified.
