40th Anniversary of Cog Railway Train Crash

Several weeks ago, marked the 40th anniversary of the Mount Washington Cog Railway train derailment which killed 8 people and injured 70 others. Because of a systems failure, a train engine rolled off a trestle causing a passenger car to speed down the mountain until it jumped the tracks and flew into a rock.

Ultimately, the Cog Railway settled a number of damage claims that were brought against it and corrected the failure that led to the crash and so many deaths.
