In the movie "Sicko" there is a scene where Ehrlichman says to Nixon: "The less care they give 'em, the more money they (the insurance companies) make." That is the universal truth concerning all insurance companies. Witness the insurance industries miserable performance in covering the claims from Hurricane Katrina. And even in the 9/11 tragedy some insurance companies have made desperate efforts to avoid honoring claims.

Nowhere are insurance companies more difficult to deal with than in honoring claims of motor vehicle accident victims. We have been representing injury victims for almost 30 years and never have we seen an environment where the insurance companies have been so desperate to avoid paying claims. Whether its because they have made bad investments with the premiums they are paid or whether its just an evolving cutthroat business attitude is hard to say. But what we do know is that if someone is seriously injured in an accident or by a defective product or by medical malpractice they should choose the lawyers who represent them very carefully. As they say about serious injury victims: Choosing the right lawyer might be one of the most important decisions they ever make.
